How do I delete my group?
This article shows group managers how to delete their group from Be Collective.
If you no longer wish to have your organisation listed as a group on Be Collective, or you've created a group in error, you may wish to delete that group.
Open group management
- Open your dashboard Summary, then under Groups I'm managing, click the group — or open Manage my groups from the left sidebar and click the group name in the table
Delete an active group
Open the Settings tab
In the settings sidebar, click Close group
In the confirmation popup, read what happens if you proceed, then click Yes, delete this group
Optionally send a message to your group's members before completing the process
What should I know about closing a group?
A closed group will still hold some data to ensure anyone who has volunteered with you still has access to their volunteer history. However, this action of closing a group is irreversible, so if you wish to resume your Be Collective group, you will need to set it up as a new group.
What do I do if I can't close my group?
You may receive an error message when you try to close your group. If this appears, it means your group has active data against it that needs to be closed before it can be closed. For example, you may have an active volunteer opportunity or event that needs to be ended or cancelled.
The specific issue preventing you from closing your group will be shown in the error message, along with a link to the appropriate Help Centre article. Please perform the actions required then try to close your group again.
My group has been closed – what can my past volunteers see?
If your group has been closed, your past volunteers cannot access or browse your group page as before. They can only access specific pages linked to from within their individual volunteer histories, such as opportunity and event descriptions.
When these pages are accessed, your group will be clearly shown as closed and no browsing within the group page to other sections or opportunities will be shown.
