How do I issue certificates to volunteers?
This article shows group managers how to issue certificates to volunteers.
Certificates are a premium feature available to Be Collective Pro subscribers. See Be Collective's product plans & pricing.
Create a certificate first — see How do I create a certificate for my volunteers?.
Issue certificates
Open your group management page
Open the Modules tab → Rewards and certificates → Manage
Open the Certificates tab
Click Send next to the certificate template you want to issue
Select recipients using an existing Smart List, or click Create new filter to build a new filter
Set filter criteria (working left to right: criterion, comparison, value)
Click Run search to generate the member list
If needed, click Edit filters to adjust criteria and run the search again
Click Send certificate to x member(s)
Suggested filter example
To issue to volunteers with more than 50 group hours:
- Volunteer hours for this group → Are more than → 50
Avoid duplicate certificates
Add a filter so volunteers do not receive the same certificate twice:
- Certificates → Member has not received → name of the certificate being issued
Total hours across Be Collective
To filter on total platform hours (not just your group), activate the total hours sharing setting first — see How can I request volunteers share their total volunteer hours logged on Be Collective?. Then use Volunteer hours on Be Collective as a filter criterion.
Certificates are not sent automatically — each issuance requires completing this process. Saving filters as a Smart List and excluding previous recipients makes repeat sends easier.
Recipients receive an email with a View Certificate link. They can print or download a PDF from the Certificates section of their profile.
Review issued certificates
Open Rewards and certificates → Certificates issued
Click View to preview a certificate
Click the member count link next to View to see who received it on the date shown in Date/time sent
