I've been invited to join Be Collective – what do I do next?

This article summarises what to do when you have been invited to sign up to Be Collective and join a group.

If you've received an email from us with the subject line 'You've been invited to join Be Collective', it means a group has invited you not only to join Be Collective, but also to join their group.

This may happen if you've been referred to the group by a friend who works or volunteers for them, or if you've volunteered for the group before and they've switched to Be Collective from another volunteer management system.

Signing up to Be Collective and joining their group means you have easy access to their volunteer opportunities.

Accept the invitation and create your account

  1. In the invitation email, click Accept Invitation

  2. On the sign-up page, create a password (your name will be pre-populated)

  3. Click Create account

  4. Open the verification email and enter the code on the sign-up screen

The date of birth field is not required to sign up to Be Collective, however you may be asked additional questions about your age later in your volunteer journey to help safeguard young Be Collective users.

Your email address will be auto-populated with the address the group provided in their invitation. If you wish to change your name or email address, please proceed with registration and update your details after this process is complete. For more information, see How do I change my email address?.

Please ensure your chosen password contains

  • at least 12 characters

  • a lower case letter

  • an upper case letter

  • a number

If you did not opt to enter your DOB at the initial sign-up screen, you will be asked a few age verification questions before proceeding to the group application. Find out more about the age verification steps and how we use these steps to safeguard young users on Be Collective here.

Complete the group application

After fully registering and verifying your account:

  1. In the pop-up listing groups you're an existing member of, click Complete application

  2. On step 1 (Your details), enter contact phone number, postcode/town/city, gender, and emergency contact information (all fields are compulsory except Occupation)

  3. Click Save next to each detail as you go, then click Save and continue

  4. On step 2 (Group application), answer any group-specific questions and select a Member Type — if in doubt, select Volunteer

  5. Click Submit application

This concludes the process of joining both Be Collective and the group. You'll then be taken to your personal dashboard page – from here, you can look for volunteer opportunities, update your details and see an overview of your volunteer activity.

Where do I go to update my profile? You can update your profile by clicking on the Profile link on your dashboard after creating your account. For more information on completing your Be Collective profile, see Navigating my volunteer profile.

I've lost my invitation – what do I do?

If you've lost your invitation, you can resend an invitation to yourself from the Be Collective sign-up page. For more details, see I've lost my invitation to join Be Collective – what do I do?.

Can I join other groups?

Yes, you can! Now that you're a registered Be Collective user, you can join as many groups as you like. You can also apply for opportunities posted by groups you aren't a member of – you'll simply be prompted to complete a group application alongside your opportunity application.
